Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

It kind of blew my mind when I learned I could make hard boiled eggs in my air fryer. Sure, I knew that I could use the stovetop to make hard boiled eggs, as I would when making my grandmothers deviled eggs recipe. Then a friend let me in on this secret with the air fryer. Now I’m not sure I’ll ever boil eggs in water again.

Air fryer hard boiled eggs let you get perfectly cooked eggs with minimal effort using this method. The air fryer produces consistently cooked eggs with firm whites and solid yolks. Best of all, it’s done in just 16 minutes.

What I love best about this air fryer method is that it eliminates the need for boiling water. You do still have to put the eggs in an ice bath afterwards, like the traditional method.

Using my Vortex 6-quart air fryer, I was able to hard boil nine eggs at time. Like with so many things that you make in the air fryer, it is important to put the food evenly spaced and in a single layer in the air fryer basket. This ensures equal and consistent air flow during the cooking process. So if you have a different size air fryer, you may be able to get more or fewer eggs in at one time.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Place the eggs in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are in a single layer and not overlapping.

Preheat your air fryer to 245 F for about 3-5 minutes. Once preheated, carefully place the basket with the eggs into the air fryer. Cook the eggs in the air fryer at 245 F for 16 minutes.

After 16 minutes, carefully remove the eggs from the air fryer using tongs.

In a separate bowl, create an ice bath with water and ice cubes. One by one, transfer them carefully and gently to a bowl of ice water to cool for a few minutes.

Notes

Once your air fryer hard boiled eggs are ready, you have several options for serving and storing them. For immediate consumption, simply peel and enjoy them warm.

If you won’t be eating them right away, don’t peel them. Instead, store your eggs in their shells and place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They’ll stay fresh for up to one week. Label the container with the date you cooked them so you can keep track of when you should eat them. Then, peel the shells and enjoy.

Use any leftovers to make this recipe for bacon and egg salad. It’s great in a sandwich.

Remember to handle your cooked eggs with clean hands to prevent contamination. If you notice any foul odors or discoloration, it’s best to discard the eggs.
