Bacon in the Air Fryer

I thought that learning to make bacon in the microwave oven or the regular oven was a leap in technology. Then I discovered the wonder that is bacon in the air fryer. I’m telling you, you won’t ever go back to microwaving or frying in a pan again.

In this recipe, you’re cooking up a pound of bacon. That’s enough to feed a family at breakfast or have plenty to use on BLT sandwiches. Or to crumble into my 30-Minute Creamy Chicken and Bowtie Pasta recipe, which is topped with bacon.

You may even luck out and discover that your air fryer has a bacon setting. If not, you can simply use a meat setting or the time and temperature we suggest here.

Best of all: by cooking the bacon in an air fryer, you free up space on the stove if you’re making eggs, waffles or pancakes for breakfast or when serving breakfast for dinner.

Ingredient

This just might be the simplest ingredient photo that I’ve ever had to make for a recipe. There is one ingredient — bacon.

Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes. While the air fryer is preheating, arrange the bacon slices in a single layer on the air fryer basket. Note: You may need to cook the bacon in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Place the basket into the air fryer and cook the bacon for 8 to 10 minutes. Halfway through cooking, you’ll want to turn the bacon over.

Using tongs, flip the bacon slices to ensure even cooking on both sides.

Once cooked or has reached your desired level of crispiness., use tongs to carefully transfer the bacon onto a paper towel lined plate to absorb any excess grease.

Allow the bacon to cool for a minute or two before serving to avoid any burns.

Notes

Of course, the cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the bacon and personal preference for crispiness. Adjust the cooking time accordingly.

You may need to cook the bacon in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Also, it’s important to check the bacon periodically during cooking to prevent it from burning.

Finally, remember to clean the air fryer basket thoroughly after cooking bacon to remove any grease residue. The last thing you want to be dealing with, when you should be enjoying your bacon, is a grease fire if you use it again without cleaning. Dawn dishwashing liquid does a great job breaking down bacon and other kinds of grease.
