Equipment

Ingredients

  • 9 eggs
  • 3/4 cup skim milk You can use whichever kind of milk you like; we only get skim or fat-free milk.
  • 16 slice bread Only a smaller loaf of bread fit in my Crock Pot. You can use any kind of bread, even hamburger or hot dog buns.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Instructions

  • Coat the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray. Since the French toast has the tendency to stick to the sides, grease it liberally.
  • Slice the stick of butter and place the butter pats around the bottom of the crock.
  • Place the slices bread in the slow cooker. Normally, I can get 16 slices in the slow cooker crock.
  • In a bowl combine the eggs, milk, maple syrup and cinnamon.
  • Mix with a whisk.
  • Pour the liquid mixture over the bread. It should be enough to cover the loaf halfway.
  • Place the top on the crock.
  • Then, turn the slow cooker on low for 10 hours or overnight.
  • About halfway through the cook, you may want to remove the top and let it cook uncovered for the rest of the time.

Notes

Note: If you have a slow cooker that you know tends to cook hot, if you will, then adjust your cooking time to eight hours. You may find that at 10 hours, things started to burn.
At the halfway cook point, remove the top. Also, you may want to take a spatula and flip the slices of bread so that the bottoms don't burn.
