This recipe for white chocolate covered Oreos is a no-bake treat I designed for Valentine’s Day, because it features red candy hearts. But the truth is you can easily modify this recipe for any holiday or occasion by swapping out the candy hearts for another candy icon, covering the cookies in sprinkles or colored sugar or skipping them altogether. Either way, they are easy to make and delicious to enjoy.

Also, this is a fast dessert or snack you can put together when you need an impressive dish to bring to a potluck or when having people over. When I was a Girl Scout leader and hosting a meeting, this was the kind of afterschool snack I might make for my troop. Of course, I would also bring cut-up fruit to balance out the treat with something more, shall we say, wholesome.
In fact, taking a page from those long-ago Girl Scout days, if you’re bringing these cookies to potluck, pairing them with strawberries is a great idea. The two flavors go really well together.
Ingredients Overview

Step-by-Step Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper to place your dipped Oreos for cooling. I have a marble slab work surface which is non stick and works for me. Now, place your white chocolate candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl.

Melt according to the package instructions. Usually, this involves microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring each time and continuing in 30-second bursts until the white chocolate stirs into a smooth consistency.

Dip each Oreo into the melted candy. Let the excess candy coating drip off. Place the dipped Oreo onto the prepared baking sheet or marble work surface, if you have one.

While the candy coating is still wet, sprinkle the red heart sprinkles over the top of each Oreo. Be generous to make them look festive!

Let the Oreos sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes or until the candy coating hardens. For faster results, you can place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes. Once set, your white chocolate covered Oreos are ready to enjoy. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Or place them in a container in the freezer to store even longer.

Notes
If you don’t want to use traditional chocolate Oreos, you can substitute the yellow variety or another flavor, such as the mint cream ones. Also, you don’t need to use the Oreo brand at all if there is another cookie with cream filling that you prefer or you find more affordable.
Similarly, I’ve made these using white baking chocolate that I’ve melted. If you have chocolate or dark chocolate baking chocolate, you can try that, too. In fact, pairing a chocolate covering with a vanilla or golden Oreo cookie would definitely work, too.
As I mentioned, I’d originally designed this recipe for Valentine’s Day with candy hearts. I used the all red kind. However, you could easily buy a mix of pink, white and red heart candy sprinkles and use them as well.
Of course, you can buy candy anything to represent a food holiday. For instance, if you happen to see this recipe while planning for St. Patricks Day, you can add green candy shamrocks to the cookies instead of red hearts.
