Like so many of the Crock Pot recipes I’ve shared here, I love this one for how easy it is to make. Basically, you dump all of the ingredients in the crock and set your slow cooker to cook fast — three to four hours on high — or slow — six to seven hours on low.

I’ve found that sometimes the chicken breasts start to burn if I’ve the Crock Pot on high. So, I recommend flipping the breasts halfway through the cook time, just in case.

Ingredients Overview

Ingredients for a dish including chicken breasts, soy sauce, honey, garlic, scallions, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and sesame seeds arranged on a white surface.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Take the whole garlic cloves and grate them. Then, add all of the ingredients to the slow cooker. That would be the chicken, soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, and salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.

Cook in the slow cooker for 3-4 hours on high or 6-7 hours on low. Make sure to flip the chicken breast over when cooked halfway.

Once fully cooked, shred the chicken. You can use two forks to shred. I know some people use a hand mixer for easy shredding but I never got the hang of that. Honestly, the chicken is so tender, it will come apart easily with just a fork.

Serve with rice and top with scallions and sesame seeds. To make things easier, I’ll cook the rice in the Instant Pot.

Notes

Years ago, I used to make a chicken stir fry in the Crock Pot. I’ve got to find that old recipe and get it on this blog for all of you to try. Anyway, with this Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken, you can make it a quasi stir fry by adding mixed frozen vegetables.

Sometimes chicken breasts dry out when cooked for too long in the Crock Pot. So you can always substitute chicken thighs for the breasts in this recipe.
