Dr. Pepper Sloppy Joes in the Crock Pot

The only time consuming parts of making these Dr. Pepper sloppy joes are browning the beef first and then waiting for this delicious meal to finish in your slow cooker. Once done, though, your kitchen is going to smell great. So, grab your favorite sandwich buns to serve with these sloppy joes.

Ingredients

Ingredients for a meatloaf recipe including ground beef, diced peppers, onion, oatmeal, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, ketchup, garlic, and a can of Dr. Pepper.
  • 2 pounds ground beef browned
  • 12 ounces Dr. Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper chopped
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper chopped
  • 1/4 cup plain instant oatmeal
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions 

  • Brown the ground beef on the stovetop. Then drain and add to the Crock Pot.
  • Add Dr. Pepper, mustard, ketchup, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, onion, bell pepper and oatmeal to the crock. Stir.
  • Cook on low for 4 hours, stirring once or twice.
  • Once the sauce has thickened, serve on your favorite sandwich buns.

Notes

You can use ground turkey or ground chicken for this recipe. Or, if you want to make it vegetarian or vegan, use fake meat crumbles such as Impossible Plant Based Beef Ground.
